Vietnam Airlines, or literally translated from Vietnamese as "the National Airlines Brand of Vietnam State", is the state-owned flag carrier of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam since the founding of the SRV. Since its inception and founding of the SRV, it has went through many changes and modification to its fleet and services, with the original fleet composed of mainly Soviet-made Tupolev planes and abandoned American and South Vietnamese aircrafts. However, since the liberalization of the economy under "Renewal" or "Doi Moi" reform in the 80s and the lifting of American embargo in 90s, Vietnam Airlines fleet has slowly changed to exclusively Airbus and Boeing fleet, and became the world's second airline (first in East/Southeast Asia) to receive the A359.
As the premier airline and introduction to the country and hospitality of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines strives to provide the best service from all international destination to Vietnam and back. It is with pride that Vietnam Airlines would like to welcome all passenger, foreign tourist or homebound repatriates, aboard our premier aircraft, with exceptional services.
